The differentiator
LLM citation building for Malaysian brands
Language models decide who to recommend based mostly on what other people have published about you, not what you published about yourself. This is the service that builds that third-party record on purpose.
Ask any answer engine why it recommended a particular company and watch what it points at. Coverage. Comparison articles. Reviews. Discussion threads. Almost never the company's own marketing pages.
That is not an accident or a bug to be worked around. It is a deliberate design decision, because a system that trusted self-description would be trivially easy to manipulate. It means the ceiling on your generative visibility is set by your off-domain footprint, no matter how good your website gets.
Most Malaysian agencies are not doing this work. Some because they have not registered the shift, most because it is slow, relationship-heavy and difficult to package into a tidy monthly deliverable. That difficulty is precisely why it holds its value.
The programme
Six workstreams that build a citable record
01
Source mapping
Work out which publications, directories, comparison pages, forums and community threads actually get retrieved for your category's prompts. This differs sharply by industry and by whether the query is Malaysian or regional.
02
Editorial placement
Genuine contributed articles, expert commentary and industry coverage. Slower than buying links and durable in a way that bought links are not, because the value is the context, not the anchor text.
03
Listicle and comparison inclusion
Best-of and comparison pages are disproportionately quoted by answer engines, because they read as pre-digested judgement. Getting properly included in the credible ones is a specific outreach discipline.
04
Community presence
Discussion platforms are heavily weighted by several retrieval systems. Presence there has to be real participation. Anything that reads as astroturf gets removed and can damage the brand it was meant to help.
05
PR syndication
Announcements distributed so they appear across multiple credible outlets, creating the corroboration pattern that makes a model confident enough to state something as fact.
06
Citation tracking
Monthly measurement of where the brand is being mentioned, which prompts surface it, and how share of voice is moving against named competitors on the queries that matter to you.
A distinction worth holding onto
Owned, earned and retrieved are three different things
Owned
Your website, your blog, your social profiles. Necessary, fully controllable, and the weakest evidence in the eyes of a retrieval system. Treat it as the place claims are made, not the place they are proven.
Earned
Coverage, mentions, inclusion, discussion. Slower and only partly controllable. This is the evidence layer, and it is what a model leans on when it has to justify naming you over someone else.
Retrieved
The subset of earned coverage that actually sits in the sources a given system pulls from. Not all earned media is retrieved media. Working out which is which, per category, is most of the skill in this service.
